It's been awhile!

It's been a good week!  Glad to say that.  The kids went back to school and are enjoying their classes and teachers.  It's nice to have our house back on track again.  Schedules and rountines can be a good thing when you have kids.

Football season is back!  My favorite sport is football. Whether I watch the NFL, college, or highschool I just enjoy watching football.  My son's first highschool football game is this weekend - we are looking forward to it.  And I get to watch the local park district teams play this weekend also.  Their games are at the same field my daughter's softball games are at on Sunday. So I can watch her play to my right and watch football to my left.  I love watching the little kids...reminds me of my son.  They are so cute when they are little and the helmets are too big! :)

Needless to say I have not done a single craft all week.  I spent my week doing a deep cleaning on my living room and dining room.  These two rooms have been so neglected for the summer.  Now if I could just get my butt moving on our office. I think it has been at least a year since I cleaned that room UGH!

I did however buy new drapes for our bedroom (so excited) just need to get the drapes on the top of my husband's honey do list.  Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be done this weekend.

That's it for now...Have a good weekend!

Quick one

Today is Wednesday August 17th and we have one down and one to go!!! One child went back to school today. That's my son...started high school today. Our schools are starting early this year so the semester will end before Xmas break. My daughter starts school tomorrow so for today it is just her and I. She is looking forward to a little mommy time.

And I am on vacation the rest of this week to help everyone get adjusted to going back to school.  I have a list a mile long of things I want to accomplish while I am off - let's see how many actually get done. :)

Well, I'm off - let's start that list!

It's Friday!!!

I am so happy today is Friday.  It has been a long week.  I have a short day at work today...have to get my son to his school for uniform pickup and of course the hours that the school is doing this is in the afternoon. And I have to get that done in time for his football practice at 3pm. I hope there are no long lines at the school and we can get in and out within a half-hour.

Lots of running around to do this weekend.  We have to get the last of the school supplies done, there is football practice, softball practice, and a parent meeting at the high school. Oh yea and we are having friends over for dinner on Saturday. Still have to get the groceries for that.  Busy Busy Busy.

I LOVE the weekends! :)

Have a great one!

Graduation Party!

Well, our family gathering to celebrate my son's graduation from 8th grade was a success!  Everyone had a good time and the weather was perfect.  Here is a picture of the centerpiece I created with my cricut...

I got lots of compliments on my decor and of course I couldn't stop bragging about my cricut.  Have I mentioned I LOVE IT!  I was so busy getting stuff together and chit chatting with family that I never took a picture of the table with the centerpiece and my two end pieces.  Oh well at least I was able to take a picture of them individually.

Now we are on to getting ready for school.  One more week.  Both of my kids are looking forward to it.  I am taking a few days off of work that week so I can be home to see them off to school and to be there when they get home.  I find that the first few days are so exciting that when they get home they just want to talk about their day and I don't want to miss that.  The phone call just doesn't cut it.  Plus I get the house all to myself! (That's the real reason..haha)

And we have even more good news in our house....my daughter tried out for a travel softball team (12U level) on Saturday morning and by that afternoon we received a phone call from the coach asking her to be on the team!  She was so excited and we are so proud of her.  So now both of our kids are in travel.  We are in the 15U travel baseball and 12U travel softball.  I don't think my husband and I will see each other at all next spring.

Well, that's all for now.  Have a great Wednesday!

Party countdown...

I was able to put together a centerpiece for the table for our party this weekend using my Happy Graduation cartridge for my Cricut.  I still need to take a picture of it and post it but it turned out really cute.  I got the idea from the website my pink stamper.  I did a flowerpot filled with moss and cut out graduation designs; glued them to popsicle sticks; and poked them into the moss to look like flowers.  SO CUTE!

In researching what to do with the gift bag fiasco I had (see post below) I found out I had cupcake holders in this same cartridge.  I HAD NO IDEA! Two of the pixs were cupcake holders who would've guessed.  I'm telling you I need a book.  I thought from the pictures that they were just banners. Unfortunately, I'm not serving cupcakes at the party but my daughter saw them and wants cupcakes for her party. So eventually I will get to use them. :)

On another note....we are exactly two weeks away from school starting!  This is one happy mama!!!  My son is starting high school and my daughter is on her last year of elementary school.  Both of them are looking forward to it.  So the next two weeks will be filled with school shopping and trying to get back to a regular bed time schedule. I think the bed time issues are the hardest for us. They are so used to sleeping in.

Well, better get going.  Have a great day!

Party mode!

We are finally having our son's 8th grade graduation party this weekend. Nothing big just immediate family so that will be nice.  We gave him the option of a big party or a tv for his room.  He opted for the tv. And then we thought we better have a very small bbq for immediate family since we were limited on tickets for the graduation ceremony.  Works for me.

Now I am having fun getting decorations ready.  I purchased the Happy Graduation cartridge for my Cricut and realized these small version cartridges aren't as easy as they look.  I NEED THE BOOK!  HA HA!  This cartridge made me realize I really like the books that go with the cartridges.  They are really helpful.  My first thought was to make the Go Grad Go boxes.  I was thinking I could make one box and he could use it to put the cards that were handed to him at his party.  Boy was I wrong.  I put a 12x12 paper in my cricut hit fit to page and cut.  It came to 4 inches tall...UGH.  Don't know what I was thinking....the picture on the package really looked like a gift bag.  I guess that's how I learn but boy it was frustrating.  So instead I went on my cricut design studio and attempted to make it bigger.  This is how they came out...

I was able to make them 7 inches tall but only 3 inches wide.  Instead of a gift bag these are now going to be the end pieces on the table.  I like them and they turned out cute but not what I originally wanted.  Oh well.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Would love to know what everyone else did when faced with this problem.
